Still Alive!!

September 9, 2007

Don’t worry!! I’m still alive and I haven’t forgotten about you!! I’ve been quite busy lately working all the time that I’ve hardly been on the computer at all … which is SO unlike me!! Now that I’ve gotten used to working every day of my life I am slowly finding the energy to get back to my blogging and blog surfing. Oh how I’ve missed it!!

I have a new blog on the go about Neopets. Well really it’s a sort of Neo help site but it’s been a good way for me to get back into the swing of blogging again by giving me something to write about. Since I left WoW I haven’t really had much to say *gasp*!

I’ve been trying to fill the gap in my life left by WoW with another game but to be completely honest, nothing really compares. I am currently on Day 2 of my free 14 day trial of Ultima Online and I am not really all that impressed by it. I HATE the camera angle and frequently try to scroll my mouse to change the view but alas, no luck. The game is over 10 years old so in that respect, it’s not horrible. I do like the ideas and everything behind it and as the original MMORPG, it really has alot of potential to drag me in if I can get past the things I don’t like. However, once my 14 day trial is up I really don’t think it would be worth my money to pay for it. Not with the current issues I have with it.

L33tz0r and I have both signed up for the Beta of Warhammer Online. It’s highly doubtful that we’ll both get it (or even one of us for that matter) but hey, might as well try. The release date isn’t until January and last night we were watching some of the videos for it on YouTube and discussing how much money we need to make by then to both have sparkly, new gaming PC’s. I am kind of partial to my laptop though, so I was thinking of a gaming laptop but L33tz0r explained that since there’s not alot of room for a cooling system you would never be able to have as powerful a system as you could with a desktop so there goes that idea. Another problem is that we’ll be moving to Canada next summer so that would be 2 PC’s we’d have to get over the ocean somehow. *Sigh*

Does anyone have any other good MMO’s they really like that they could recommend? I’d love to have a look at some others!

I tried a bunch of different MMORPGs to try to replace WoW too, but didn’t really find any that could compared. I went back to FFXI (Final Fantasy 11) for a while, but if you’ve never played that game before it’ll seem too slow to you compared to a game like WoW. Also, it’s impossible to solo at higher levels in it, and everything you do will rely on a group.

I also tried the original Everquest, and Everquest 2. I only lasted with Everquest for about a day, but EQ2 managed to keep me preoccupied for a few weeks at least. It has one of the best, and most fun crafting systems out of any game I’ve played. If crafting isn’t your thing though, you may or may not like it.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is an okay MMORPG. I played it not long after it was released, and it was buggy as hell. They may have cleared up most of it by now, and if so it’s worth taking a look at. I wouldn’t recommend it though unless you have a pretty decent system to play it on. I have 2gb of ram and a 7600GT video card, and was playing with most of the settings at low just to get 30-40fps.

Most of the MMORPGS you can only appreciate if you don’t expect them to be like WoW, and don’t compare them. Just try them out for what they are. Hope that helps!

play UO (old 2D client) on a free shard. I like Angel Island (www.game-master.net). They are very dedicated and add new content all the time. It’s very pvp oriented. There’s allso far less protection then in original trammel UO…. but that makes it exciting if you have some skill… you can actually be evil, something which is surpressed in every other game.
